Imogen Heap Live
Feb 13th
So on Thursday I went to Bristol to see Imogen Heap Live. Wow. Not only was she even more awesome than I imagined, the support artists were at the same level of amazingness. If you ever get the chance to see Imogen, Tim Exile or Back Ted n Ted, then go for it!!
Just as a heads up, Imogen makes most of her music using samples (make a sound, loop it etc throughout the song), hence why you see loads of random things on the stage. I’m poo at describing, so probably best to just watch and enjoy!
You’ll also see Imogen do things with her wrists, she has microphones on them to pick up certain sounds. Clever stuff, hey?
By far the best gig I’ve seen, to see each song come together in front of you is just incredible. And Imogen is just ace, sipping a cup of tea on stage, that’s rock and roll
Of course, I’m going to say “watch them all”, but if you don’t have time, at least watch “Headlock” and “Hide and Seek”.

Paramore – Fricking Awesome
Dec 15th
I can’t even begin to describe how good Paramore were last night, so instead, I’ll let the videos do the, errr, singing.
Spotify
Nov 8th
I love Spotify. I use it every day, and have many playlists (both collaborative and private). I’m a Premium subscriber too, and can thoroughly justify spending £10 a month for all the music.
But.
Spotify is lacking some real key features in my opinion. So, I thought I’d share:
- Sorting – At the moment, my playlists are all over the place. Just a simple “Sort by…” feature would be cool. Alphabetically would do the job a treat
- Downloaded tracks – Ok, so when I’m driving, I like to play my downloaded tracks instead of cocking about with weak 3g signals and so on. But, I’m limited to one playlist. Ideally, I’d like to be able to shuffle all my “downloaded” songs, or make a playlist on-the-fly from said downloaded songs.
- Add entire album to playlist on iPhone. In the main app, I can drag an album on to “new playlist” and it’ll save (duh) as a new playlist, titled nicely. I’d like to do that on my iPhone too, really
- Play in the background!!!! I know this is an Apple restriction, but I think (and hope) its only a matter of time before I can load Spotify AND text people. Really, Apple should just let go…..
That’s it for now, there will be more I’m sure!
Fall Out Boy
Oct 24th
Another video I never got round to uploading….. Fall Out Boy live at the CIA (Cardiff).
Not much to say about this, the gig was amazing, unfortunately I wasn’t right at the front, but its still a good watch / listen!
Enjoy
Scott Matthews
Oct 22nd
It’s taken me ages to get this uploaded, but finally, a video of Scott Matthews live at the Glee Club in Cardiff from a few months back. Apologies for the quality of the video, I wasn’t keen on filming in such a small venue, and the woman in front had a MASSIVE head.
Needless to say, the singing is AWESOME (Passing Stranger)
Enjoy
Joshua Radin & Meiko
Jul 23rd
On Tuesday, Lauren and I went to see Joshua Radin at the O2 Academy in Bristol. We’ve enjoyed Josh’s music for a couple of years now, so to see him live in the UK was just awesome.
Coupled with that, we got to meet him after and get piccies. Wooo! His support artist, Meiko, was damn good too, wish I’d have recorded more!

Live Music
Mar 9th
There’s nothing like the sound of live music to put a smile on my face. So, I try and keep a memory of the giggs (good or bad!). I’m adding them as I get time, still to come is Fall Out Boy and another Maximo Park Concert, along with Evanescence and The Rasmus when I can find the clips again!
The camera work is, well, shit. So my apologies, but I wasn’t going to bring the tripod!
So for now:

Looking for new tooones
Feb 15th
I’d say, that, on average, I get bored of my entire music collection about 3 times a year…..and this is one of those times. It’s not a bad thing, in fact I really enjoy it when it happens, as it gives me the chance to spend vast amounts of time, money and effort listening to music that I’ve never heard before, which is just damn ace!
Right now, I’m loving quite a few groups / genres that have been recommended to me from friends / reviews in Magazines. Artists such as Fleet Foxes, Frankmusik, Passion Pit, Ladytron, and as of today, Low (See video at end of post).
I guess with Spotify in full flow, it’s become easy for people around the world to share playlists and have free access to practically any song in the world. And why not? You switch on the radio and have free music, you turn on the TV and can select what you want to listen to, so why not allow access to millions of songs at the cost of just a few tiny adverts here or there online.
But oh no, the music companies aren’t happy for people to have access to their artists without paying stupid amounts of money to download or purchase their favorite tunes. I’m not ashamed to admit that I have done / will download music from sources that don’t charge money before making a purchase. But I found that with Spotify, I hardly downloaded anything at all, because it was just quicker and easier to load Spotify and listen to whatever I wanted. So looking at it logically, the record companies we’re making money off me, not directly, but I was listening to the adverts, which no doubt funded Spotifies use of the tracks. Infact, I remember having a discussion with work colleagues about wanting an xBox, simply because we had all heard the xBox ad several times on Spotify that day.
I can only begin to think that the record companies are going to end up with egg on their faces if they continue to strip programs such as Spotify from its rights to play certain artists, after all, surely a steady stream of income through advertising is better than nothing at all, especially with the ever increasing “black market” of illegal MP3 downloads?
I’ve set up a collaborative play list on Spotify that I’d really like people to add to (sooner rather than later, before Spotify has nothing good left on it!), to introduce some cool music into my collection. Just click here and start adding, if you wish
